Other than that, great list, thanks.

    • Mahesh Mohan

Yes, I will be adding WP and more in the next update. Thanks for the update.

      • carpet cleaning tampa

the wptouch plugin is off the hook ! unbelievable!

    • Mahesh Mohan

I have just updated the list and added WP-Stats-Dashboard
      and WP

  • Gregg Rooney

Wow…what a great list you have here!!

I have some of them, but was able to add a few and will be updating my website with them.

Thanks for sharing this great info with me.

  • Teodoro

Title of post inappropriate and false: most are not compatible with version 3.4 of wordpress. You could test them before you write!!

    • Mahesh Mohan

Not really. I’m using WordPress Version 3.4 and is using almost all the listed plugins above. It’s all compatible and is working for me.

      • Teodoro

        Hy…I found problems with:
        Dagon Design Form Mailer
        Dagon Design Sitemap Generator
        Google Analytics For WordPress
        Subscribe To Comments
        Furthermore, incompatibilities or errors with:
        W3 Total Cache
Probably there are conflicts the theme (Suffusion) or with other plugins installed. I can not tell :-)
Sorry for my bad english and for my previous comment

        • Mahesh Mohan

          Hi there,

My WP Version is 3.4 and am using

          Dagon Design Form Mailer
          Dagon Design Sitemap Generator
          Subscribe To Comments
and W3 Total Cachce and there is no problem. I guess it’s your theme’s problem.

  • HostingWeb 24/7

I am also using ”W3 Total Cache”, ”Dagon Design Sitemap Generator” and a lot more of those plug-ins in this list and I am suggesing them to everybody without any doubts, especially the 2 that I have already mensioned have helped more than enough ;) . A very nice list.
I would also like to ask you your opinion about ”WP SEO by Yoast”. I think it is also pretty good.

    Thanks a lot,

    • Mahesh Mohan

Yes, I have tried WP SEO by Yoast as well. It offers more features than All In One SEO. But I like All In One SEO itself as it’s much more simpler. Well, if you’re an advanced user and is setting up a new blog then I suggest WP SEO by Yoast itself. I am not switching as am using All In One SEO since the past 5 years.

  • Ajay

Thanks for featuring Contextual Related Posts!

    • Mahesh Mohan

Anytime! But I had to disable that since it was using too much resources. HostGator suspended my account temporarily for over CPU usage. And the issue was “Contextual Related Posts” it’s thumbnail generating feature. Also, I switched to “WordPress Related Posts” as I wanted to show Related Posts based on tags. Anyways good job.

  • hardy

Thanks alot man…I will surely see forward to install these plugins..But can I ask a question if you don’t mind ?

    • Mahesh Mohan

      Why not?

  • hardy

I recently got my adsense accepted…
Can you please tell me how did you put that ad on the extreme top, alongside your banner..
Its totally awesome to get tips from a pro..
    and btw
    I am a noob at css :(

    • Mahesh Mohan

If you mean the 728×90 AdSense banner at the top then it’s part of the template. No CSS editing was needed as this theme itself provided customization.

  • hardy

I am currently using the theme ‘ARRAS’..And I don think it would fetch me well from the adsense
Can you suggest a good theme
    I would be grateful :)

    • Mahesh Mohan

Oops! I really can’t suggest a theme since theme selection depends on many factors like Color, Niche, Frequency of posts etc.

  • hardy

ok..thanks for giving your time man !!
    btw,I am hardeep
plz stay in touch on google plus
I would need your suggestions :)

    • Mahesh Mohan

      Sure! Always welcome!

  • Santosh Mishra

WordrePres Plugins work as the super charger for a blog. With the help of some plugins your website flies. In fact choosing best WordPress plugins gives you an edge over others.

  • Shivbhadra Gohil

    Thanks Mahesh,

Got some really good Plugins from your post. Looking forward to your “best of 2013” collection :P

We just released a WordPress Plugin for Graphic/Web Designers that should be added to this list!! Its a design approval system!

  • Ben Marketing

Some good plugins here but I tried activating the popularity contest but it’s saying it is no longer supported with the up to date wordpress and is not recommended. Is there any good alternatives for this plugin you could suggest?

    • Mahesh Mohan

I stopped using popularity contest plugin as it uses heavy resources.. and in fact HostGator suspended my account twice for over CPU usage and it was caused by Related Posts plugin and Popularity Plugins. I suggest you to show your popular posts manually in a widget.

      • Ben Marketing

Its not the popular posts I want to show its the most popular users I want to show like what LinkedIn uses on their group pages (top influencers)

        • Mahesh Mohan

          How about CommentLuv plugin?

          • Ben Marketing

Hi thanks that looks like a good plugin, but not exactly what I’m looking for.

Needs to show a graph like the popularity contest does so the users are competing for the top spot.

          • Mahesh Mohan

In that case, you can use a Top Commentators plugin.

  • Salman Zaib

Great list of essential wordpress plugins. Thanks for sharing.

  • Ben Marketing

Thanks Mahesh, That looks like the right one. I’ll go and install it just now. :)

    • Mahesh Mohan

Anytime! I think I will add that plugin as well to the list. Thanks! :)

  • Sergey Oganesyan

    Very good selection plagins! Thanks.

  • ibrahim nadir

i believe i will use at least 5 of the plugins u have mentioned for my new website and i believe that it will help my website a lot. Thanks bro… :)

  • Angela

I’m looking for a wordpress plugin that allows me to publish a post to social media in one step from the wordpress admin, rather than creating a post in wordpress, copying the link, and using something like seesmic or hootesuite. Any recommendations? thank you.

  • Thomas

A very nice list. I can recommend this one while it’s not essential it really cool. This widget displays a global virus infection level.

  • Bren

Akismet and All in one SEO are simply brilliant plugins – one other plugin not mentioned that I love is ClickDesk for live chat – fantastic plugin.

    • Mahesh Mohan

Oh yeah, you’re right. A Live Chat plugin is missing in this list. Will include (oLark Chat Plugin) on the next update as that’s my favorite live chat plugin.

  • Stacy Summers

Awesome collection of plugins! Thank you for sharing
I’ll try some of them on my own blog :)

    • Mahesh Mohan

Thank you! Come back again as I update this list often. :)

  • Angela

All plugins are very good. But this list is too big, if all installed , the website may not afford the heavy load. you’re not supposed to install ALL of them. Many offer duplicate functionality anyway. The point is to use this list to find the best plugins suitable to your site.

    • Mahesh Mohan

That’s right. One can select from the list accordingly. If you ask me then I’m using 21 plugins from the above list. And I have made sure that almost all plugins are unique. Few exceptions include Yoast RSS Footer, Robots Meta, Site Map plugin etc. If someone have installed Yoast SEO then there is no need for the above 3 plugins (if not more). I’m still using All In One SEO so I installed RSS Footer and Robots Meta and the Site Map plugin separately.

  • Libin

Correct. These plugins are essential. Why not to include a WordPress login page customization plugin?

Erident Custom Login and Dashboard is an awesome one for Login and Dashboard page customization. Check it:

    • Mahesh Mohan

Those kinds of plugin are not essential I would say… those are optional plugins.. because a natural user don’t see the login page.

  • Animesh Sen

Thank you. Really helpful for me. Specially the SEO plugins.

    • Vefa Do?u

SEO plugins are the reasons why i stay with wordpress

  • Ben Marketing

    @Vefa same! they are great!

  • Himanshu

Mahesh Mohan I think you lack some wp security based plugin. Do you have any suggestions?

    • Mahesh Mohan

Absolutely I missed it… You have any suggestions about the essential wordpress security plugins? Or else I will add it on the next update.

      • Himanshu

may be you should check out – Better WP Security Plugin or Bullet prof security.

  • tzarhappo

great I will try most of them

  • Dr Kavita Shaikh

Mahesh, thanks for such a useful and detailed post.

All these plugins seem wonderful, but many of these are not compatible with the current version of WOrdPress.

Also, using so many plugins at a time will definitely affect your blog speed and that is not a good thing to have.

    • Mahesh Mohan

I’m using most of the above listed plugins on this blog or on another blog and all of them works fine. Except that few listed plugins (Dagon Design Form Mailer, AdSense Deluxe) requires you to install manually as they’re not available in WordPress Plugin Directory but they are still working for me. For example, AdSense Deluxe is a very old plugin which I installed on this blog some 5 years back and then they stopped development but it still works fine for all WP versions.

Regarding the Speed. You’re not required to install all of the above plugins just go for the one which makes your blogging easier. Though I have listed 30+ plugins here I’m using only 21. I’m not using Yoast SEO Plugin otherwise I could have reduced the number of plugins even further.

  • Tigr

Hi all . The plugins are awesome . let me add one more plugin to this WordPress plugins Gallery –

  • johnandroid

hey,in my opinion this plugin Wp Auto Affiliate Links Basic/PRO is very useful because adding affiliate links trough all your content

  • JIOS

Great post! I’ve already opened a dozen tabs, and Im sure Ill try these out tonight

  • Charles Holmes

Great list of plug ins here. I found three that I am going to add to my blog:

    Popularity Contest
    WP Postviews
    SEO Rank Reporter

Thanks for sharing this great information.

    • Mahesh Mohan

Yeah, they’re all good but I recently disabled all of them to save resources. HostGator suspended my account for over CPU usage couple of times and the issue was because of WP Postviews. They don’t recommend that plugin.

  • Phil

Getting ready to launch our new site, I am interested in using the Dagon sitemap generator…but its so old. Are you using this on your site? Is there anything out there like it??

    • Mahesh Mohan

Yes, I’m still using Dagon Design Sitemap Generator on this blog and it works fine. You can download it from author’s website if its not available in WordPress Plugins directory.

  • Tim

      Stay tuned!

  • ???? ??????????

    fantastic list,

i am trying to use the the google xml sitemap but have some problems. it cant find the files xml and the other. any clue?? thank you

    • Mahesh Mohan

See if the version is compatible with your WordPress version. Also, I don’t understand what you meant by “cant find the filex xml”. Once you install the plugin go to plugin settings and manually generate the XML sitemap.

If you’re still experiencing issues then you can ask for support here

      • Adi Muhadist

There’s an alternative for sitemap plugin, try it out here Better WordPress Google XML Sitemaps. But sometimes I found the plugin failed to generate sitemap when using with W3C Total Cache plugin.

        • Mahesh Mohan

Looks good! But I think a better option could be to use a custom “archive template” by our self (some coding skills required but anyone can do it using WordPress tutorials).

  • test dysanexias

thank you for your reply … i will search it in depth.. the plugin asks about the sitemap.xml file, that is missing.. i read somewhere that you need to make it with notepad!

    • Mahesh Mohan

Great! Let me know if you have any other queries.

  • Saleh

    Thanks for the list,
I am using WP seo from yoste, and there is site map can I use also google XML or one is enough
