iTunes Affiliate Program: Make Money Reviewing Apps For iOS & Mac

As you probably know, the Apple iTunes revolutionized the music industry and later the smartphone industry by creating an app ecosystem.

It’s true that Google’s Play Store revenues are soaring high as Android devices now outsell iOS devices. But when it comes to revenues Apple App Store is still dominating and analysts don’t expect Google to overtake Apple until 2016.

Now if you’re a blogger who reviews apps for smartphones and tablets on your blog then you can make money by joining the iTunes affiliate program. Google Play Store doesn’t have an affiliate program yet but you can join the iTunes partner program and review apps (and much more) for Mac and iOS devices.

The iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, and iBookstore feature thousands of apps, songs, movies, music videos, tv shows, games, podcasts, books, gift certificates, etc. for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod) and Mac.

So you can make money by joining affiliate program for iTunes, App Store, iBookstore and Mac App Store via LinkShare (aff link). iTunes doesn’t have an in-house affiliate program yet so you’ll need a LinkShare account and have to apply for iTunes, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store affiliate program (LinkShare Advertiser ID: 13508).

Once you’re accepted to the iTunes affiliate program you can start linking to songs, apps, etc. by creating affiliate links using iTunes Link Maker. You’ll get 5% commission on all qualifying sales generated via your affiliate links to the iTunes Store, App Store,Mac App Store, and iBookstore.

    Great post!

A quick heads up though, LinkShare only manages the iTunes / App Store Affiliate Programs for the US, Canada and Mexico and there are actually 45 country specific programs world wide.

Be sure to check out TradeDoubler for the 39 iTunes / App Store Affiliate Programs across Latin America and Europe and DGM for the programs in Australia and New Zealand.

And, if you need help with managing all of the country-specific affiliate programs or want a clean way to deal with it all check out GeoRiot (full disclaimer – a company I co-founded)!

Looks interesting! And yeah, I did notice the programs for other countries but decided to target the primary market and that’s why I listed US program only. But your website looks good and useful.

Will you be getting commissions on in app purchases made ? Majority of the apps are actually given for free since money is in the in app purchases.

    • Mahesh Mohan

Obviously you won’t get commissions for free app downloads. :)
