My blogging strategy is pretty simple. When I publish a blog post I just ask myself whether it solves some or any problem, or is it literally “just another blog post” on the blogosphere.
And I try to make sure that each blog post of mine targets different audience (by focusing on different long tail keywords). That’s why I do not have multiple blog posts covering the same topic over and over.
Also, I rarely do content promotion or link building because as an “on-page guy” I spend most of my blogging time over on-page stuff. For me, blog marketing is all about publishing and attracting organic visits — yes, I love organic traffic. :)
That said, today, content promotion is as important as content creation. If it was all about content creation back in 2000’s then today it’s like — 90% promotion and only 10% creation.
I have already written about different aspects of blogging over the past several years but I haven’t written much about blog promotion or traffic generation strategies. It’s simply because I don’t have a blog promotion strategy, yet.
Today I want to share some of the best blog marketing resources that I think is good for beginners as well as experienced bloggers.

3. Top 30 Social Networking Sites To Drive Traffic To Your Blog | Minterest — It’s a hand-picked list of web 2.0 sites by me that can drive a ton of traffic to your blog. But no, you don’t have submit your blog post to each and every website that is listed there. Instead, pick only the relevant ones.
4. Double Your Traffic In 30 Days | Quick Sprout — It’s a step-by-step plan by Neil Patel & Sherice Jacob — that’s more effective for beginners — to double your website’s traffic in 30 days. The good thing about this resource is that instead of writing a lengthy 10,000 word article they created a step-by-step action plan in an easy to consume way that you can follow over the next 30 days. It’s not too lengthy so I would say do your homework after each step instead of finishing on the very first day.
5. 21 Tactics To Increase Blog Traffic | Moz — It’s a list of blogging tactics by Rand Fishkin that’s updated every year. It’s a great place to start with for beginners as it covers almost all aspects of blog marketing in a single blog post.
6. 16 Explosive Content Promotion Strategies | Robbie Richards — It’s a list of 16 content promotion strategies that you can use to amplify the reach of your next blog post. And the good thing……it explains the strategies using a set of tools so that anybody can try it.
7. 31 Ways To Promote Blog Posts And Get Blog Traffic | NicheHacks — It’s a list of 31 on-page and off-page content promotion strategies that you can use to promote your blog posts. You can also explore this, this, this, and this blog post for more such ideas. The only problem is… it will take a lot of time (and some money too) to learn and execute these strategies as a good percentage of them are off-page ideas.
8. Want More Traffic That Actually Converts? Follow These 4 Steps… | Backlinko — It’s a 4-step action plan by Brian Dean to increase your traffic. This blog post tells you how to pitch influencers in your niche and how to create content that your influencers care about.
9. 7 Proven Strategies To Increase Your Blog’s Traffic By 206% | Neil Patel — It’s a comprehensive blog post by Neil Patel where he lists 7 traffic generation strategies that he used to triple his blog’s traffic. Most of the strategies that he has discussed may sound familiar to you but he gave a new approach to them.
10. How To Reach 100,000,000 Unique Visitors In Just 6 Months | ViperChill — It’s about how to hit your 100,000 visits a month goal in 6 months by starting a Facebook campaign. Yes, it needs a marketing budget. This blog post by Glen Allsopp also includes some websites that are getting a massive traffic from Facebook.

This blog post tells you how to find great content ideas and how to drive thousands of visits to your next blog post even when you don’t have any “connections”.
12. How To Grow A New Website To Over 100,000 Organic Visits Per Month | SEO Nick — It’s a case study about how Nick built a website that’s getting over 100,000 visits a month, in less than a year, without spending a penny on advertising. This blog post had gone viral when it was published and got over 500 comments. The domain name of the blog was registered just a couple of months before its launch and it hit 100,000 visits in 9 months and he achieved it through 100% SEO and content strategy.

- First things first. Improve the navigation and user experience of your blog with a great design and also by minimizing the number of ad units and unwanted features. Because, it can increase the number of pages visited by a user (or page views).
- Blog comments. Yes, that’s right! Blog commenting is not spamming when you do it right. If you leave quality or useful comments on other blogs then it can bring a lot of traffic. Just make sure that you are not commenting for a backlink.
- Create useful content (even if it’s a micro post) and promote it whenever you get a chance.
- You don’t need a link from New York Times to get a ton of traffic. Just think about a powerful content strategy and it should help you reach your traffic goal.
- Increase the number of blog posts per week/month and make sure that each and every blog post that you publish is useful.
- But remember, it’s much, much, much better to write one quality blog post than 10 mediocre posts.
- Interlink your blog posts so that it will increase the number of page views and eventually your organic traffic as well.
- Ask your friends/family to promote your content.
- Collaborate with authority bloggers and leverage the relationship. For instance, you can easily connect with other bloggers for doing a roundup post and then email all the bloggers that you have mentioned in your blog post to share your work.
- You can also mention influencers and brands on social media, especially on Twitter, as it gets noticed very quickly.
- Interview other bloggers in your niche so that they will share the interview on their social media channels and will hopefully link to it whenever they get a chance.
- Answer questions on Quora and Yahoo Answers. If you are the first to solve a problem and is linking to your blog then it can send you a lot of traffic.
- Again, you can repeat it on relevant forums as well.
- Try broken link building to get quality backlinks and thereby traffic.
- Start guest blogging.
- Start collecting email addresses of your readers and send newsletters. Why? Because email marketing is more important now than ever and is still the best way to communicate directly with the customers.
- Leverage social media marketing.
- Accept guest posts on your blog or make it a multi-author blog. Because when you do the guest authors or co-authors themselves will promote the blog posts that they have written and that gets you free traffic + links. Note: I do not like this idea personally. Here’s why.
- You don’t have to update your blog multiple times a day unless you really need to.
- If you don’t know the topic then don’t write about it. Passion is the key. That said, you don’t have to be a guru. Just use your personal experience when writing a blog post so that it will appear more appealing.
- You don’t have to copy other bloggers in your space. Be yourself! And always learn from others.
There are tons of blog marketing resources but I didn’t want to make this blog post another 101 list as it might confuse you. Also, I believe that the above resources are all you need to take your blog to the next level.
